Heartland Funds

For almost a quarter century, Heartland’s disciplined, value investment philosophy has served shareholders well. Our common sense approach, searching for stocks selling at “bargain basement” valuations, is our passion and sole focus.

We are relentless seekers of value and believe a stock may be undervalued because it is:

  • Temporarily out of favor or oversold because of recent negative news
  • Under-followed by Wall Street analysts
  • Misunderstood by investors
  • An emerging opportunity

In essence, we view this discount as a means to afford potential appreciation, while limiting downside risk for you, our shareholders.

Heartland Funds are value funds

All of our Funds are focused on this same time-tested, value driven approach. We analyze overlooked and unpopular stocks which are priced at a fraction of what we believe is their true intrinsic value, looking for a measurable and positive difference between the true worth of a company and its current stock price. We believe a value investing style (bargain-hunting) is the most intelligent way to build our shareholders' wealth.

Three distinctive value funds with three capitalization ranges:

The Select Value Fund

Managed to be an investor's core value holding.

The Value Plus Fund

Managed to reduce volatility normally encountered in the small-cap

The Value Fund

Managed for superior long-term shareholder returns.

Our ultimate goal is to help our shareholders work toward long-term financial goals, such as saving for retirement, educational expenses or a major purchase like a home.

Each of these Funds has its own stated investment goals and is managed to meet those goals by our experienced teams of Portfolio Managers and analysts. To learn more about each Fund and how they might help you achieve your long-term financial goals, contact us today. We’ll be happy to talk to you.

The Funds invest in small companies selected on a value basis. Such securities generally are more volatile and less liquid than those of larger companies. Value-based investments are subject to the risk that the broad market may not recognize their intrinsic values. The Select Value and Value Plus Funds also invest in a smaller number of stocks (generally 30 to 60) than the average mutual fund. The performance of these holdings generally will increase the volatility of the Funds’ returns.

S&P 500 Index is an index of 500 U.S. stocks chosen for market size, liquidity and industry group representation and is a widely used U.S. equity benchmark. All indices are unmanaged. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.
