Bill Nasgovitz

For Bill J. Nasgovitz, value investing has been a life-long passion. And, despite varying market conditions, the Founder, president and portfolio manager of Heartland Advisors, Inc., has remained steadfastly dedicated to the strict value disciplines that have embodied the Firm’s core investment philosophy since it was founded in 1983.

Bill was instrumental in the development of Heartland’s proprietary 10 Principles of Value Investing™ that are the foundation for evaluating every security. As a member of the portfolio management team of the Heartland Value Fund and separately managed accounts, Bill brings nearly 40 years of value investing experience to the clients of Heartland Advisors.

A noted authority on small-cap investing, Bill is frequently quoted among the nation’s leading financial media, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Barron’s, Money, and Worth. He has also been featured on Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser and has spoken at numerous conferences on the benefits of value investing.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. He is active in his community, serving on the board of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin and the North Point Lighthouse Friends, Inc. board, and is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization. He enjoys tennis and gardening.
